SEC: Adeosun’s Panel Wants Gwarzo Sacked

Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun’s panel has recommended the sack of the suspended Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mounir Gwarzo.

The panel, which was instituted by Adeosun to investigate a corruption petition written against Gwarzo, has equally asked the suspended SEC DG to refund the N104, 851, 154 he approved for himself.

The embattled SEC DG had reportedly approved and received the said sum as the entitlement for his former position as executive commissioner in the commission under the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The Mahmoud Isa-Dutse-led panel also accused Gwarzo of awarding contracts to his friends and family, an act which contravenes rules of the public service.

Meanwhile, at Tuesday’s hearing of the House of Representatives Committee investigating the matter, the suspended SEC DG maintained that the Finance Minister had no right to suspend him.

Gwarzo insisted that Adeosun suspended him because of his resolve to conduct a forensic audit of Oando Plc’s financial activities against the minister`s will.
