Senate Begins Probe Of ‘Sex Toy Senator’ Over Assault On Woman

The Senate, on Wednesday, set up a committee to probe allegation against its member, Senator Elisha Abbo over an alleged assault on a woman.

A video which has gone viral on the social media, showed the Peoples Democratic Party senator who represents Adamawa North Senatorial District at a sex toy shop in Abuja, allegedly assaulting a woman who is said to be a nursing mother.

The incident was said to have occurred earlier this year.

The bipartisan ad hoc committee headed by a former governor of Ebonyi State, Sam Egwu, is expected to probe the issue critically by inviting both parties.

Senate president Ahmad Lawan, who constituted the panel, ordered that it submit its report within two weeks.

The pane was constituted following a point of order raised by the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Uba Sani. The Senate Leader, Abdullahi Yahaya; Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe; and Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, supported Sani by condemning the action of the Senator.

Other members of the panel are, Senators Oluremi Tinubu,  Mathew Urhoghide, Stella Oduah, Dauda Aliu Jika,  Sani Musa,  and Danladi Sankara.
