Senate Threatens Obaseki: Issue Fresh Proclamation Or We Take Over Edo Assembly

The Nigerian Senate has threatened to take over the Edo State House of Assembly if Governor Godwin Obaseki should fail to issue a fresh proclamation for the inauguration of the House in seven days.

The Senate issued the ultimatum to Governor Obaseki on Tuesday, amidst the crisis rocking the Edo House.

The Senate said failure by the governor to comply with the directive would leave the National Assembly with option other than to invoke its constitutional powers to take over the legislative functions of the House.
