Senator Leads 10-Man Peace Committee To Resolve Peremabiri Crisis In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State governor, Douyi Diri, on Wednesday set up a 10-man Peace and Security Committee headed by Senator Moses Cleopas, to help find enduring peace in Peremabiri community of the state.

The development is coming after days of inter communal conflict in Peremabiri, which led to killing and burning of properties.

The crisis has left many homeless.

The governor gave the committee one month to complete the assignment.

Gov Diri said: “The committee is to find out the immediate and remote causes of the crisis. Within this period, there shall be no recognised chiefs in the community. Also there is no CDC Chairman for now. The security agents will remain in Peremabiri for now to ensure peace.”
