Sergio Ramos Set To Leave Real Madrid

The fleeting love affair between Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid has hit the rocks, according to a report by a UK Newspaper The Guardian

The paper says the Spain international defender has told the club he wants to leave and asked them to consider offers — and that’s the cue for Manchester United to step up their interest in bringing him to Old Trafford.

Ramos, who has been at Real for a decade, held talks with chief executive Jose Angel Sanchez on Wednesday morning and declared that he wanted to move on, the report says.

But United will have to dig very deep if Louis van Gaal is to get his man — with Real likely to “set the bar prohibitively high, initially, at least.”

And with 29-year-old Ramos having a £128 million buyout clause in his contract, which still has two years to run, that bar could be stratospheric.

United are said to be keen to sign him in part-exchange for goalkeeper David De Gea, long linked with a move to the Bernabeu after a string of outstanding performances.

They’re also interested in adding Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to a report by the Daily Telegraph.

Schneiderlin, who stayed with the Saints during last summer’s mass exodus of players, is also said to be interesting friendly London neighbours Tottenham and Arsenal. He is valued at about £25 million.
