Shehu Sani Tackles Defence Minister Over Comment On Herdsmen Killings

Kaduna Central Senator, Shenu Sani, has tackled the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, over the comment he made concerning recent Fulani herdsmen killings.

Dan-Ali, it would be recalled, had claimed that the herdsmen were provoked into the killings because of the anti-open grazing laws passed by state government.

But frowning at the minister’s statement, Senator Sani said his attempt to justify the herdsmen killings would only worsen the situation at hand.

“Minister of Defence is doing a good job in the north east in the battle against the insurgents. But his attempt to rationalize, justify, interpret or translate the violence and bloodletting in the states affected by armed Herdsmen does not help in the search for viable solution,” he said.

On the government’s plan monitor social media accounts of high-profile Nigerians for hate speeches, the lawmaker said, “If the energy, resources and time that will be dispensed in monitoring the social media labyrinth by the state security apparatus, will be deployed in targeting and tracking kidnappers, militiamen, Terrorists, Herdsmen, Bandits and Human traffickers, we will be safer.”
