Following the approval to reopen the Port Harcourt Technical and Vocational Training Centre, Chairman of Nigerian Young Professionals Forum (NYPF), Mr Moses Siloko Siasia, has extolled the leadership qualities of Rivers State Governor, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.

Other state governors should “emulate the attitude and character of Governor Wike, Siasia said while speaking to newsmen in his Abuja office on Monday.

“We commend Governor Wike for reopening the technical and vocational training centre in Port Harcourt. Governor Wike has actually directed that the school should be reopened on October 15. I want to commend him for his show of exemplary leadership. We went there without any form of political bias.

“We went there to champion the cause of young people, to appeal to him to reopen the school that had been abandoned for over three years. On hearing the true situation of the school, Governor Wike called the parties involved and ensured that at the end of the meeting, ordered that the school should be reopened. It is an uncommon show of leadership.

“I am using this opportunity to call on other leaders, most importantly our state governors to emulate the attitude and character of Governor Wike because you will find out that it is very difficult for you to see leaders, after showing this to the world that this school has been abandoned, they don’t see it from different point of view, rather the see it from positive light.

“This is leadership and this is true leadership. It shows that such a leader sees youth growth as a priority for national development. Other governors and leaders should see youth growth as a priority for sustainable development and peace.

“Thus is one of the way we can actually curb the societal challenges that we have in our society today into windows of opportunities where young people can create sustainable livelihood and are engaged constructively. We commend him and appeal that he keeps to his word that the government will reopen the school,” Siasia added.
