Six Rescued As Building Collapses In Lagos

The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. The cause of the collapse remains unknown, but government officials have launched an investigation to determine what led to the structural failure.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), alongside other first responders, arrived at the scene swiftly and conducted a coordinated rescue operation.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the incident.

He said that five of the victims were treated for minor injuries and taken to a private hospital in the area.

However, one man, who was initially trapped under the debris, sustained a fracture and multiple bruises.

He was rescued in stable condition and transported by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to the Surgical Emergency Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he is currently receiving further medical care.

The injured man is a 44-year-old resident of 10, Olabode Street, Alimosho.

“The five who were rescued were taken to a private hospital in the neighbourhood. The trapped victim, who had a fracture and bruises, was taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Surgical Emergency by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

“He arrived at the hospital in a stable condition and was immediately admitted for further treatment.

“The 44-year-old patient lives at 10,Olabode street, Alimosho,” Omotoso said in a statement.

THE WHISTLER reports that on September 12, a three-storey building under construction suddenly collapsed in Alagomeji, Yaba, trapping several individuals under the rubble.

The incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. at 333 Borno Street, sending shockwaves through the densely populated neighbourhood.

At least four victims were recovered dead, while four others were rescued alive.
