Snapchat Overtakes Twitter In Daily Active Users

Snapchat has surpassed Twitter in terms of daily active users, according to a report from Bloomberg.

The image messaging and multimedia mobile application has crossed 150 million daily users, overtaking Jack Dorsey’s Twitter in daily usage.

According to the report, Twitter has 136 million daily users.

The microblogging service has about 310 million monthly active users and doesn’t disclose the number of daily users. However, the report points out that it did disclose last year that about 44 percent of monthly users are active each day in its 20 popular markets. This results in the numbers being roughly about 136 million.

Bloomberg also noted that Twitter, which was founded in 2006, was once the No. 2 social network behind Facebook, but has since been eclipsed by Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, Snapchat at just four years old, “has been growing quickly, boosted by its popularity among young people,” the report revealed.

Both Social media platforms are yet to comment on the report. However, Snapchat recently confirmed that daily active users spend an average of 25 to 30 minutes each day using the app, with about 60 percent of them actively creating new content.
