Social Media Week 2018: Parents Advised To Monitor Children’s Activities Online

The Social Media Week 2018 kicked off its 6th edition on Monday, February 26, after a successful 2017 edition that recorded over 15,000 attendees and had a global online reach of 454 million.

The annual conference now considered Africa’s largest digital media and technology event returned to the Landmark Centre Victoria Island, Lagos, with a blast on Wednesday as Lanre Olusola, Founder of Olusola Coaching Academy (OLCA), Adesuwa Onyenokwe, Olayinka Somoye, the Head of School Salvation International School, spoke about what children do online.


Olusola advised parents to be careful of what their kids do online as they tend to be addicted to lots of devices.

He quoted the World Health Organisation (WHO) as declaring that depression will be the world’s deadliest killer in two years from now and it will be the number one world killer in 2030.

According to olusola, depressesion may set in as kids spend too much time on machines rather than engage in social interactions that aide emotional and psychological balance.
