Sowore, With ‘Broken Nose’, Vows To Fight On Against ‘The Tyrant’

Publisher of Sahara Reporters and RevolutionNow Convener, Omoyele Sowore, is alleging a “broken nose” in Monday’s face-off with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

Also, a Magistrate Court sitting at Wuse Zone 2, Abuja has ordered that he and some activists be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre following charges bordering on unlawful assembly during New Year’s Eve.

Sowore, whose lawyer is expected to argue his bail application on Tuesday, tweeted that police intimidation will not deter him from fighting against tyranny.

“We have been sent to the infamous Kuje Prison for the next 24 hours while they plot their next moves. But we are very resolute and convinced that this year will be different for the tyrant!

“We are currently at the Magistrate court in Wuse Zone 2 with a broken nose.

” Police want us sent to prison after 5 days in cruel detention. Just rest assured we’re solid and undaunted until full liberation is attained! # RevolutionNow,” he tweeted.

The development however had been frowned on by the human rights group, Amnesty International.

Amnesty had warned the federal government to stop using its agencies to frustrate freedom of expression.

“Sowore’s continued detention is a matter of concern for Nigeria. His case shows just how far Nigerian authorities can go to silence peaceful dissent.

The government of President Muhammadu Buhari must stop targeting activists and respect the human rights of everyone,” it had stated on January 2.

Recall that Sowore is also being tried at a Federal High Court Abuja, on an amended charge of treasonable felony.
