Special Force Soldier Lynched In Maiduguri

A Special Force Soldier recently deployed to Borno State was killed by an irate mob in Maiduguri, after he shot dead a civilian during a hearted argument.

Military sources confirmed to THE WHISTLER on Tuesday that Private Mohammed Abdullahi was lynched to death along Baga road in the Borno State capital on Saturday night, shortly after the slain army personnel indiscriminately opened live rounds on four civilians during an argument in a retail shop.

According to the sources, an Army memo revealed that the three civilians who received gunshot wounds were currently being treated at a specialist hospital in Maiduguri.

An army sergeant who spoke off-the-record explained that the soldier’s corpse had been evacuated to a morgue at 7 Divison Medical Services and Hospital (DMSH) in the Maimalari area of the capital city.

“Arrangements have also been made to recover the soldier’s weapon from the civilian police,” the source added.

It could be recalled that the slain junior officer was recently deployed to the newly established “Operation Tura Takaibango” – a special force involved in the fierce battle against jihadist group Boko Haram.

However, attempt to get the reaction of the army was unsuccessful as the Director Army Public Relations officer, Brigadier General ,Sagir Musa, did not pick his calls.
