Speeding Trailer Kills Motorcyclist In Anambra

An unidentified motorcyclist was Thursday evening killed in a road mishap in Anambra State.

The crash occurred at Customary Court junction, by Igboukwu-Uga road at about 17:10hrs, our correspondent gathered.

DRC Margaret B Onabe, Ag. sector public education officer, Federal Road Safety Commission, Anambra State Command, said the crash was between a trailer and a motorcyclist.

According to her, “An unidentified driver of a red Mack trailer with registration number JJ496QF, and an unidentified rider of a Lifan motorcycle with no registration number were involved.

“The probable cause of the fatal crash was attributed to excessive speed and loss of control.”

An eyewitness said the driver of the trailer was on very high speed, lost control and rammed into the oncoming motorcycle on a single carriage way.

THE WHISTLER gathered that the two male occupants of the trailer did not sustain any injury.

The sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, while commiserating with the family of the dead victim, warned motorists to always maintain safe speed limit.
