THE WHISTLER had an exclusive interview with various Sport Journalists ahead of the game between Nigeria and South Africa.

Olusola Adebayo, A Sports OAP in Lagos is confident that the Super Eagles will emerge victorious in the encounter.

He said: “Nigeria are the favourites to go through into the final but that’s where it stops as many pre-match favourites are at home already. The Super Eagles need to do the needful if they want to qualify by improving on those things that took them this far.

“Nothing is special about the South Africans based on their performances so far and the Nigerians have the edge in terms of everything.

“Meanwhile, they must be mindful of the South Africans’ strength in quick counter attacks, long-range shots and shun complacency. They are low in quality compared to Nigeria but the Eagles must assert the quality and show why they are better.”

For Femi Fabunmi, he is cautious with his opinion on the match, saying the team with the better goalscoring opportunities will carry the day.

He said, “The Spirit in the Super Eagles camp is high. Both teams are preparing for an epic semi-final clash.

“For the South Africans it was 28 years ago that they made it to the semi-final.Their opponents have played more semis than any other African country. It’s going to be a cracker, no doubt. The team with better scoring opportunities will carry the day.”

He added, “The Super Eagles are fired up for victory over the Bafana Bafana, they have been impressive in the competition since the opening day disappointing draw against Equatorial Guinea. It is going to be a tough game against South Africa, but I see Nigeria scaling through.”.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian football coach based in Dubai, Marcelinus Anyanwu has provided tactical tips on how the Super Eagles can overcome South Africa.

Anyanwu said: “What many don’t understand about this Super Eagles that has brought them this far is that from the beginning, this team distorts the game plans of other teams. No team that has played the Super Eagles have successfully executed their game plan against our team. And that explains why it is been difficult for all teams they played to score against them.”

“The Bafana Bafana should be the one to be extremely worried playing against our Eagles. There are two players in our team that are deadly and act as decoys to hit the opponent when it matter most.

“So, barring complacency of any kind from all departments of our team, Bafana Bafana will fall. Osimhen must slow down a bit and wait for the counter attack and he will trigger like a cannon, Our midfield should stay compact, and focused, winning second ball and getting those pocket passes is we need.”

Victor Osimhen has been passed fit for the encounter and he is expected to keep his place in attack.
