Stan Kroenke Makes £600m Offer To Take Full Control Of Arsenal

Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has made a £600m offer to take full control of the north London club.

The American billionaire who already owns 67% of Arsenal through his company KSE, says Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov has agreed to sell his 30% stake in the club.

The buy-out announcement was made to the London Stock exchange on Tuesday.

“We at KSE are moving forward with this offer leading to 100 per cent ownership of the club,” a KSE statement read in parts.

“KSE’s ambitions for the club are to see it competing consistently to win the Premier League and the Champions League, as well as the major trophies in the women’s senior game and at youth level.”

“We appreciate Mr Usmanov’s dedication to the Arsenal Football Club and the storied ethos and history the club represents.”

The news of the new deal has been met with various reactions from some Gunners fans, who asked Usmanov not to sell up last season.

Arsenal finished sixth last season and will play in the Europe’s second tier competition – the Europa League – during the 2018/2019 campaign.

The Gunners have a new manager in charge this season after Unai Emery took over from Arsene Wenger, who had been in charge for 22 years.

They start their Premier League campaign against champions Manchester City on Sunday.
