Jammeh, who made this known via the country’s state-run television station, described moves by the international community to oust him as a “sustained smear campaign, propaganda and misinformation.”
“I believe we can ask Gambians to come together to resolve this and any other matter without undue external interference,” Jammeh said.
THE WHISTLER recalls, however, that President Buhari alongside four other leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), met earlier in the week to decide the next line of action as regards the country’s political crisis.
The ECOWAS leaders are expected to return to The Gambia on Friday to ask Jammeh to respect the people’s choice and hand over peacefully to President-elect Adama Barrow.
