Stephen Odey Finally Completes FC Zurich Switch From MFM FC, After Protracted Delay

Super Eagles Team B and MFM FC, striker Stephen Odey has finally completed his move to Swiss side, FC Zurich after his International Transfer Certificate was released.

“The 19-year-old Nigerian Stephen Odey changes immediately from MFM FC Lagos to FC Zürich, where he signed a contract until the end of the season 2020/2021,” the Swiss club stated on its official website

Odey who had in August signed a four year deal with a monthly pay of $8,000 at the club but couldn’t go to Germany because his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) was pending.

“FC Zurich and Odey had already agreed on the transfer some weeks ago. However, the release, which has been granted by FIFA today, was still missing. The 182 cm big striker is now entitled to play for the city club.

“Odey has been playing for the Nigerian Premier League for two years and has been a goal scorer in the league with 18 goals. Last June, Odey made his debut against Togo in the national team.

Thomas Bickel, Head of Sport at the FCZ, who is delighted with the transfer said:

“Stephen was already a top scorer and a national player in his home country at the age of 19. We are glad that he wants to take the next step with us.”

The Nigerian B team striker becomes the third Nigerian player to represent the club after the late Rashidi Yekini and Ike Shorunmu.
