The arrest followed credible intelligence that the suspects were attempting to sell a stolen tricycle at Ugbodogwu, Trans-Ekulu.

Police recovered the yellow and black Bajaj tricycle from the suspects. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to stealing the vehicle, bearing Bauchi registration number NNG 445 WZ, from where it had been parked in the Obiagu area of Enugu on the night of January 19.

The suspects also admitted to vandalising the tricycle and selling its three tyres, and were allegedly in the process of disposing of other parts before their arrest.

Police said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected theft syndicate and recover additional exhibits. The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, urged vehicle owners to remain vigilant and install basic security features to deter theft and aid the recovery of stolen vehicles.
