1.7m World Cup Tickets Sold – FIFA

FIFA said on Tuesday that almost 1.7 million tickets have been sold for the 2018 World Cup in Russia this June.

The ruling football body said 394,433 tickets were sold in the latest sales stage which began since March 13 and ended today.

According to FIFA, Russians bought 216,134 of the tickets, followed by fans from the United States (16,462), Argentina (15,006), Colombia (14,755) and Mexico (14,372).

In all, 1,698,049 tickets have now been sold, with the final sales phase beginning April 18.

The 21st FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA, is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018.

This will be the first World Cup held in Europe since the 2006 tournament in Germany.

The final will take place on 15 July at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, the Russian capital.
