At least two people were reportedly killed after fire razed down A. A Rano fuel station along Muritala Muhammad Way in Kano State.
The fire was said to have erupted from a petrol tanker around 3pm on Wednesday and escalated to some nearby buildings, burning and destroying properties worth millions in the state metropolis.
An eye witness who spoke to Channels TV said: “The fuelling station was already selling fuel when the tanker arrived with fuel, the next thing we saw was inferno which eventually killed the driver and one of his boys.”
He noted that the state fire services and other fire-fighting agencies tried hard to put out the fire, they could not stop the damage already done.
According to the Head of Crisis Management of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) of Kano Command, Alhaji Abdulhamid Salisu, few other people were rushed to the hospital for injuries sustained while running away from the fire.
