2017 Budget: ‘N40m Voted To Feed Wildlife In Aso Rock’

A whooping sum of N40 million has been voted to feed animals in the 2017 Budget of “Recovery and Growth”, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has said.

The Senator representing Bayelsa East in the National Assembly made this shocking revelation via a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Friday.

He wrote: “It breaks my heart that at a time when many Nigerians can’t eat we are budgeting ₦40 million to feed wildlife in Aso Rock Presidential Villa!”

President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2016, presented a N7.298tn 2017 Budget proposal before a joint session of the National Assembly.

Whereas the State House budget stood at N43 billion, compared to the N24 billion for 2015.

Meanwhile N20 billion was budgeted for capital expenditure and N23 billion for recurrent expenditure.

Sewage Charges for the State House Headquarters was put at 53 million compared to that of 2015 at 5 million and for 2016 which was 6 million.

The State House Residential Rent went up to 78 million, from N28 million budgeted for last year and 23 million for 2015.

Reports also have it that N250 million was allocated for the Vice President’s gate, which has raised concerns from different corners.
