2018 W/Cup Qualifiers: Don’t Underrate Zambia, Rohr Tells Eagles

Super Eagles Coach Gerhort Rohr has advised his team not to underrate the Chipolopolo of Zambia ahead of the duo’s battle in Uyo on October 7.

Zambia got back-to-back wins over Algeria on Tuesday, closing the gap on Nigeria and now have a realistic chance of making it to Russia 2018.

The Super Eagles, who have 10 points, only need to defeat Zambia in the next round of games to qualify for Russia.

However, Rohr insists his team must remain focused, if they must qualify.

“We have a very good chance to qualify but we can’t relax because it’s not guaranteed yet,” Rohr told Complete Sports .

“We are happy with where we are but we’re yet to get the ticket, so we must continue to work hard.

“If we beat Zambia in October we will qualify, but Zambia are very strong.”

“This (group B) is a very difficult group of very good teams. African champions Cameroon are already out, so we must respect every team.

“Zambia are quite strong. They have a young team like us and they improved at the FIFA U-20 World Cup this year. Some of the best players in that U-20 squad are already with the senior team.”

Nigeria will next host Zambia in their fifth game of the World Cup qualification at the Godwill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo in October.
