2019: Madumere Dares Rochas, ‘I Have God And Imo People’

Prince Eze Madumere, Imo State Deputy Governor, has told his principal, Rochas Okorocha, that he will not relent in his pursuit to take over from him as governor in 2019.

Governor Okorocha had in February endorsed Madumere to run for the Imo East senatorial seat, while his son-in-law and Chief of Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu, for the governorship position of the state.

A development his deputy rebuffed and instead opted for the number one political position in the state.

Recall that it had been reported that the embattled deputy governor now operates from Achi Mbieri, his country home, in Mbaitoli area of the state and only comes to his office at the Government House annexe once or twice a week.

Madumere while addressing a section of leaders from his Local Government Area in the state on Thursday said: “I will pursue my gubernatorial ambition to a logical conclusion. I am in the race to serve Imo people of Imo State.

“I have the requisite leadership qualities and vision to take the State to a greater height.”

Madumere also insisted that with or without Governor Okorocha’s endorsement, he remained the best to replace him.

“I am seasoned administrator with many years of experience in private and public sector”

“I rely not in any man no matter how highly placed. I have taken my destiny in my hands. I have God and the people of Imo State.

“God has always granted me the grace to carry on.

“I have no regret because it has made me even stronger in my bid to make the difference in changing the tide for the people.

“Any development that does not trickle down to the masses is a misplaced priority,” he added.
