2019 Presidency: Fayose Going Nowhere – Kashamu

Senator Buruji Kashamu of Ogun East has warned 2019 presidential aspirants to stay away from Governor Ayodele Fayose if they intend to live long.

Kashamu, who predicted a slim chance of Fayose emerging president in 2019, equally warned that any presidential aspirant who picks the governor as vice-presidential candidate endangers his/her life.

The Senator said this against the backdrop of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s visit to Ekiti State.

Although Fayose had last year declared his intention to run for president in 2019, speculations are that Atiku’s visit to Ekiti may be in view to pair with the governor as running mates in 2019.

But speaking in a statement on Tuesday, Senator Kashamu said any right-thinking politician would not pick a “cantankerous and inordinately ambitious” Fayose as running mate because the governor is allegedly “going nowhere”.

“Any presidential candidate who picks Fayose as his running mate endangers his life should he win. Since he fraudulently took control of the party structure in the South-West, what has he been able to do with it? Nothing!,” said Kashamu.

“He is fighting the political battle of his life to install another of his stooge as his successor, in the face of stiff opposition from within.

“In a couple of months, the forthcoming Ekiti governorship election would put a lie to his claim of invincibility and uncultured disturbance of our political space.”

Reacting, however, Governor Fayose said: “He [Kashamu] is free to run his mouth; we won’t take issue with him.”

Meanwhile, Kashamu, despite belonging to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has continued to show support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged second term bid.

It will be recalled that the Senator has a pending drug-related case before a Chicago Federal High Court in the United States.

The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, is currently seeking to extradite Kashamu to the U.S to answer the case.

The Senator’s recent support for the president may be in view to get a soft landing in his extradition case that is currently before the Court of Appeal.
