$26bn Scandal: Kachikwu Says ‘No Comment’ After Meeting Buhari

Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, refused to brief State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Kachikwu had held a closed-door meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa today. The meeting lasted for about an hour 10 minutes.

The minister arrived the Presidential Villa around 11.40am for the meeting, and left at about 12.50pm.

When quizzed by members of the press shortly after the meeting, kachikwu simply said “no comment”.

This is the first one-on-one meeting Buhari will be having with the minister since an open letter Kachikwu wrote to the President on insubordination and highhandedness of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru.

The minister had stated that after several unsuccessful attempts to meet the President personally since he returned to the country, he resorted to writing the letter.
