A’rese Emerges Winner Of The Voice Nigeria

28-year old theatre actress Agharese Emokpae, popularly known as A’rese, has won the first-ever edition of music reality show, The Voice Nigeria.

A’rese, who was on #TeamWaje, was awarded a recording contract, an SUV worth N7 million and a 4-night gateway to Dubai, for emerging winner.

She beat out stiff competition from #TeamPatoranking’s Chike, #TeamTimi’s Cornel and #Team2baba’s Brenda, as well as 47 other contestants who appeared in The Blinds competition.

After the duets and individual performances– which were made available on iTunes, four contestants were eliminated while four remained, which included – Brenda, A’rese, Chike and Cornel.

The Top 4 then took to the stage, with A’rese and Chike coming out on top, before I.K announced the former as the winner.

A’rese, who graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2010 wowed the audience with a heartfelt version Aretha Franklin‘s ‘Think’ and ‘Hallelujah’ by Alexandra Burke.

Speaking after entertaining finale, Waje described her mentee as “unique” and “a once-in-a-generation voice,” followed by a very teary proclamation: “Talent is a gift from God”.
