Since he came on board as the Inspector-General of Police not long ago, Mr. Solomon Arase has brought some panache and decorum to policing in Nigeria. His candour, patriotism and dedication to duty are unparalleled in the annals of the police in Nigeria. These qualities and achievements are in sync with the change mantra of our able President, Muhammadu Buhari.

It is in keeping with the accomplishment so far recorded by the police top brass that a pressure group, Excellence and Integrity Network is calling on the police high command to disregard the nefarious petition by one Nkemakolam Onyeije for the trial of electoral offenders who according to him marred the Abia North March 28th senatorial election.

Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia yesterday, the national coordinator of the group, Mr. Kalu Ikeogu urged the Inspector general of police to disregard this inane and unlawful call as it is laughable and puerile appealing to Mr. Solomon Arase not to be distracted by this vain-glorious character that is doing the bidding of his pay-master ex-governor, Orji Uzor Kalu. It is a well-known fact that Orji Uzor Kalu came a distant third in the March 28th Abia North senatorial election and ever since has been trying all tricks in his book to wangle his way to the senate.

The people of Abia State are yet to recover from the inept and corrupt governance of the state since he was in the saddle of leadership of the state several years ago. The state treasury was allegedly emptied by Uzor Kalu and his cohorts. It is unimaginable, wicked, callous and a disservice to the spirit of hard-work and morality synonymous with the Igbo race for Orji Uzor Kalu to seek to represent the people of Abia North in the national assembly.

It is like the pot calling the kettle black for Orji Uzor Kalu to advocate for the prosecution of electoral offenders when he has a corruption case dangling on his neck. After squandering the resources of Abia state, he has no moral gumption to aspire to any elective public office in Nigeria. At this juncture, we are appealing to the Inspector general of Police not to allow himself, to be used by desperate, selfish and retrogressive politicians to subvert the will of the good people of Abia North during the forthcoming re-run election.

The people of Abia North are desirous of purposeful and result oriented representation in the senate and the likes of Orji Uzor Kalu are incapable of doing that based on their sinister antecedents.
