Ahead of Senatorial Rerun election in Abia North which will hold tomorrow, thousands of aggrieved members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The decampees, who included youths, women and men, were received by Governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu during the ruling party’s campaign rally in Umunneochi and Ohafia Local Government Areas.

Speaking at the event, the leader of the decampees in Ohafia, who was the deputy to the APGA factional gubernatorial candidate, Chief Nnaoke Uduma said that they had no other option than to join the winning team.

He described the PDP flag bearer in that election, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, as the best candidate for the senatorial seat in Abia North.

On his part, the spokesperson of the defectors in Umunneochi, Mr Christian Onyedikachi, said they regretted joining APGA, promising to work hard with the other members of the party to deliver all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.

While receiving the decampees into the PDP, the Abia Governor assured them that they had made the right choice as the PDP remained the party to beat in the state.

He then enjoined the PDP members to accept the new converts in the party and work with them to ensure success.
