Abuja Indigenes Vow To Shutdown Abuja Carnival Over Non-Inclusion

Not satisfied with the way and manner the organizers of ongoing Abuja carnival has commenced the cultural exercise without the inclusion of the Abuja natives, the collation of FCT Indigenous Association has vowed to shut down the carnival.

Spokesperson of the group, Yusuf Ahmadu Yunusa, said in Abuja on Sunday that the organizers have taken the natives for granted and have deliberately refused to include the FCT indigenes in the cultural exercise, despite the sacrifices the FCT natives have made to the unity of one Nigeria by providing its ancestral land for other Nigerians who have repeatedly refused to carry them along.

“It is most painful that even the Abuja carnival taking place in our land/home town has refused to recognize the FCT indigenes therefore, we will not allow any act that seems to further marginalize us to continue. We hereby declare in strong terms that the Abuja carnival 2016 grand finale cannot hold.

“We have concluded all every necessary arrangement to mobilise our women, youths and traditionalists to come out en-mass and disrupt the final day of the event in protest recover our cultural values.

“It has become a continued culture of the Abuja carnival organisers never to include FCT natives in their programs schedule due to selfish and fraudulent reasons as we have on record that they made so much money from the budget that goes into their pockets yearly.”

Yunusa has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the happening and activities of the organisers of the event and further disallow them to dent the image of his administration.
