British recording artist, Adele Laurie Blue Adkins has reportedly signed a record-breaking deal with Sony worth a whopping $130 million.
The deal is coming after the 28-year-old’s contract she signed with British independent label XL, at the age of 19, expired.
The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology graduate recently smashed records with her third studio album ‘25’, it was the highest selling album of the year with more than 17.4 million sales, dwarfing that of her closest rivals Ed Sheren (3.5m) and Taylor Swift (3.5m).
Her video Hello was also the fastest to reach a record 1 billion Youtube views, surpassing PSY’s Gangnam Style.
Adele is already worth an estimated £85m, having generated extraordinary sums from her albums, with 25 generating more than £35m in sales.
The Tottenham born singer, has won dozens of awards – Grammys, BRITs and even an Oscar. She has over 26.2 million followers on Twitter and 11.8 million on Instagram.
Adele’s success has come from just three albums, with her first ‘19’ released in 2008, ‘21’ in 2011, with the latest and record-breaking ‘25’ released in November 2015.
21, has now sold more than 30m copies globally, making it the most successful album of the past decade.
