Ag. President Osinbajo Swears In Justice Onnoghen As CJN

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, swore-in Justice Walter Samuel Onnoghen as the 17th Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The inauguration was held inside the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The Senate earlier this month confirmed Onnoghen as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, taking over from Justice Mahmud Mohammed who bowed out of service on November 10, 2016 after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Osinbajo on February 7 sent Justice Onnoghen’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in November, Swore in Onnoghen As Acting CJN after recommendation from the National Judicial council.
