Aiteo Takes Over Sponsorship Of CAF Awards From Glo

Nigeria’s Energy Conglomerate Aiteo has signed up as the new sponsor of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) award, replacing telecommunications giant Globalcom, which held that position since 2015.

The energy firm said in a statement that a partnership agreement was reached with CAF on the sponsorship of the Awards at the Aiteo head office in Lagos.

“This sponsorship shows that there is a clear momentum behind Aiteo’s involvement in the game,” Benedict Peters, Aiteo executive vice president, said.

“Buoyed by the success of our corporate social commitment in Nigeria that has resulted in our emergence as the first African nation to qualify for the world cup, we are encouraged to advance our investment in the game to a continental level.

“Our aim is to bolster the profile of African players globally, and encourage budding talents to put in their best.

“CAF Awards shares our values in relation to creating opportunities, healthy competition and recognition for hard work.

“We plan on using this partnership to truly enrich the fan experience for millions of Africans.”

CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad, who spoke earlier, said the continental body is “very glad to welcome Aiteo on board.

“Aiteo is distinguished for its commitment to excellence and this sponsorship is a demonstration of its confidence in CAF’s renowned value proposition as a veritable platform for brand extension across Africa.

“We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”

Aiteo are huge financiers of football in Nigeria, signing a N2.5b deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in April 2017.

As the Official Optimum Partner of the NFF, Aiteo’s N2.6b will be used to pay national team coaches for five years.

Aiteo are also the official sponsors of the just concluded Federation’s Cup with the competition now known as Aiteo Cup.

In recognition of their contribution to football, Aiteo have been invited by FIFA to the 2017 FIFA Best Football Awards which will hold on Monday, October 23 at the London Palladium in London.
