This was contained in a statement signed by Instagram co-founder and chief technology officer Mike Krieger.

A “verified account” is one that has a blue checkmark next to the user’s profile, signifying that Instagram has certified the account as the genuine handle of a public figure.

But with the latest review, just a click on the “Request Verification” in the settings tab and following the required steps can make one attain that small but powerful blue checkmark.

“An important way for you to know that the account you are interacting with is the authentic presence of a notable public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity.

“Today we are enabling a new way for accounts that reach large audiences and meet our criteria to request verification through a form within the Instagram app,” Krieger said.

Instagram also shared an update on two other important steps to keep its users delighted with the “About This Account” feature and a “third-Party Authenticator Apps.”
