Another PDP Reps Member Defects To APC

The defection drama in the House of Representatives was re-enacted on Thursday as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lost yet another Federal Lawmaker, Hon Johnson Agbonayinma to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

His defection was announced at a plenary on Thursday in a letter read to the lawmakers by Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house.

Mr Agbonayinma, who is the seventh PDP lawmaker to leave the party in 2017, claimed the PDP shut its doors against him and other loyalists of Ali Modu Sheriff, a former chairman of the party.

Mr. Agbonayinma who is from Edo State was a member of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of PDP before the Supreme Court’s judgement that settled the internal dispute that nearly killed the party, by recognising the then Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction as the authentic leadership of the party.

Agbonayinma was received by the Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Phillip Shuaibu.

Last Tuesday, a member of the PDP representing Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte constituency in Imo State, Hon Nnanna Igbokwe, defected to the APC.
