APC Sidelines Timi Frank, To Appoint Ex-minister New Spokesman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to announce a new spokesman for the party on Thursday.

There are indications that former Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi will be named the party’s new spokesperson, replacing Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Lai Mohammed resigned from the post last year, to take up appointment as Minister of Information and National Orientation.

According to reports, Abdullahi is expected to be confirmed as the new spokesman, at a mini-convention at the New Chelsea Hotel in Abuja Thursday morning.

Abdullahi, an ally of Senate President Bukola Saraki, served as a former commissioner of education in his home state of Kwara.

Meanwhile, embattled Timi Frank, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, was prevented from taking over from Mohammed, which was largely due to his disagreement with the APC National Chairman, John Oyegun.

He is currently under suspension from the APC, after the Zonal Executive Committee last month delivered the ruling, following the recommendation of a five-man disciplinary committee.

The committee also recommended that Frank should be expelled from the party.

He has now taken the party to court, after his suspension was announced.
