Appeal Court Sacks Rivers APC Lawmaker Over ‘Massive Rigging’

The Rivers State lawmaker representing Opobo/Nkoro Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Andrew Miller, has been sacked by the Court of Appeal over electoral fraud.

The Appeal Court sacked Miller after it found that the March 19, 2016 election that ushered him in was “massively rigged” in favour of the APC.

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa of the said court, in delivering the judgement, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a fresh certificate of return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Diri Adonye.

The court ruling follows a petition earlier filed by the PDP and its candidate before the Rivers State election petition tribunal, challenging the APC’s candidate victory.

The PDP had argued and proved that Mr. Miller was declared by INEC as winner of the election based on inflated figures.
