Apple Reports Over 1Billion Active Devices

American Tech giant, Apple Inc. said on Tuesday that the total number of active Apple devices has surpassed 1 billion.

The company announced this as part of its first-quarter earnings statement, adding that it sold its billionth iOS device back in November 2014.

“Our team delivered Apple’s biggest quarter ever, thanks to the world’s most innovative products and all-time record sales of iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple TV,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, in a statement.

“The growth of our Services business accelerated during the quarter to produce record results, and our installed base recently crossed a major milestone of one billion active devices.”

That figure includes iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod touch, and the newly revamped Apple TV and the Apple Watch, which saw the best growth this past quarter with a 62 percent year-over-year jump in sales to $4.3 billion.

Apple did not break down the proportions each makes up, but about 735 million are iPhones sold in the latest quarter, according to the company’s records.

Despite the recent stutter in sale of the iPhones, the iPhone remains the crux of Apple’s business. The company sold 74.78 million iPhones in Q1 2016, by far the largest contributor to its $18.4 billion in profit on sales of $75.9 billion. That marks the most profitable quarter of any single public corporation in history.
