Arms Deal: Ex-PDP Chair, Haliru Bello, Son Pleads Not Guilty

A former PDP national chairman, Haliru Bello Mohammed and his son Abba, on Tuesday, pleaded not guilty to a four count charge of money laundering involving about N300m preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bello and his son were arraigned before Justice Ahmed Mohammed for allegedly collecting the said sum from the office of the National Security Adviser.

Justice Mohammed, who fixed Thursday for the ruling on the bail application by the accused, ordered the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to ensure that Bello, who was wheeled into the court in a wheelchair, was monitored in hospital.

He also remanded the PDP chieftain’s son in Kuje Prison till Thursday.

The EFCC had filed charges against Bello, who is also a former Minister of Defence, and his son, along with their firm, Bam Properties.
