Following Arsenal’s 6-0 victory over Ludogorets, manager, Arsene Wenger has said his side now have the mental strength to overcome tough times in games.

Arsenal ruthlessly swept aside Ludogorets with a six goal haul on Wednesday night to remain undefeated in their Champions League campaign.

Mesut Ozil scored the first hat-trick of his career as Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all scored to lit up the Emirates Stadium.

The victory was the Gunner’s seventh consecutive in all competitions, and Wenger believes that the habit of claiming all three points has given his side a mental rigidity.

The North Londoner’s have not always been at their best in recent league games, claiming narrow victories over Swansea and Burnley, but have managed to secure all three-points.

Wenger said: “In this game a lot is linked with confidence and I feel that at the moment it’s high because we win game after game. That means we can get over the dodgy periods [in games] with less psychological damage but what you want is to get them out as well.”

Despite winning comfortably, the Gunners struggled for most of the first half, with the visitors coming close through the likes of Jonathan Cafu and Virgil Misidjan to level proceeding after Sanchez opener.

“We could have paid for the chances we gave away,” Wenger continued. “But as long as you score three the opponent has to score four. That means that we need to continue to score goals and get these lapses out of our game.”

“We scored early and maybe eased off a bit defensively, it’s funny because the more goals we scored the better we defended.

“In the first half it’s true that we were sometimes endangered by runs coming from deep. Their strikers came into midfield, flooding it and got out of pressure. We were in trouble twice.

“I’d like to again give credit to Ospina, who saved us again with very important saves.”

Next up for Arsenal in the Champions League, is a trip to Bulgaria to face Ludogorets Razgrad, with the Gunners hoping to continue their fine form as they top Group A.
