Arsenal Sink Everton At Goodison

Arsenal went back to winning ways as they defeated Everton 5-2 in the English Premier League at Goodison Park on Sunday.

A goal each from Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez gave Arsene Wenger’s side a much needed win which took them back to the top five on the table.

The defeat leaves Everton in the relegation zone and signifies their worst league start since 2008.

Wayne Rooney opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a beautifull curled shot from 20 yards to put Everton ahead.

Monreal cancelled Rooney’s opener after a Granit Xhaka shot bounced off the arms of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Arsenal went ahead early in the second half with a beautiful header from Ozil, who headed home a Sanchez cross past Pickford.

Things went from bad to worse for Everton in the 69th minute after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for a second booking. the midfielder catches Granit Xhaka on the foot and was shown a second yellow, reducing the home side to 10.

Arsenal took advantage of the extra-man and scored a goal 5 minutes later. Alexis Sanchez found Mesut Ozil down the right, with the German playing in Lacazette, who buries from 15 yards.

Ramsey scored Arsenal’s fourth after he clipped on to a kack Wilshere through-ball. Oumar Niasse pulled one back for Everton after a defensive mix-up in the Arsenal defence.

However, Sanchez ensured the Gunners went home with a 3-goal cushion, dribbling his way across the Everton defence and slotting his shot into the final corner, to give Arsene Wenger a a favourable birthday celebration this evening.
