The former VP said he will run for the country’s number one seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Defending his decision to make the announcement in Port Harcourt, Abubakar said he believes Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike represents what he represented in 1998/99 as the live wire of the PDP.

He was in the south-south state with former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel; Senator Abdul Ningi and some other party chieftains.

On his part, Mr Wike, said Abubakar, who defected from the All Progressives Congress to the PDP earlier this year, is greatly feared by the APC.

The governor said the PDP is not only interested in taking over power in 2019, but on a mission to rescue Nigeria from “maladministration”.

He called on all other aspirants of the PDP to ensure the party takes its chances in the 2019 polls.
