Atiku Lauds Buhari For Approving Pension For Biafran Soldiers

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has extolled President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the payment of pension entitlements to Biafran soldiers and their Next of Kin.

President Buhari had on Wednesday approved the pension payment to the soldiers who fought during the Nigeria Civil war.

Recall that the then President Olusegun Obasanjo, in 2000, granted the personnel presidential pardon.

Many of them, however, haven’t since been paid even after being verified by the Nigerian Government.

In his reaction, Atiku tweeted:

“I commend @NGRPresident @MBuhari for ordering payment of pensions to pardoned Biafran soldiers. It shows unity!

“This move shows a commitment to peace, unity and our shared belief in one Nigeria, with justice and equity for all, “ he said.
