Atiku: More Trouble For APC As 8 Adamawa Commissioners Dump Party

The consequences of ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s exit from the All Progressives Congress has began to tell on the APC as 8 Adamawa State commissioners have dumped the party.

The commissioners who dumped the APC in solidarity with Atiku are: Dr. Fatima Atiku Abubakar, commissioner of health, Commissioner of Works and Housing, Lilian Stephen, Commissioner of Land and Survey, Yayaji Mijinyawa and Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Mr Augustine Ayuba.

Others are Alhaji Daware, Commerce and Trade and Ahmadu Waziri, Agriculture.

Their exit will clearly send the wrong signal to other members of the APC in the state ahead of the next general election.

Mijinyawa, who confirmed the development in statement to newsmen, said:

“Waziri Atiku is our leader. Our associations with him dates back a long while. It would be childish for anybody to think we would go against him.

“Even if some of us are deserting the Waziri now, due to the pressure of office, definitely, you don’t expect his own daughter, Dr. Fatima, to desert him and remember, Waziri funded the campaign of this party in 2015, his funds brought this government to power,” said the Commissioner of Land and Survey.

Although the state governor, Jibrilla Bindow has avowed his stay in the APC following Atiku’s exit, it is believed that more than half of his cabinet members would dumped the party before 2019.
