AY’s ‘A Trip To Jamaica’ Sets New Record

**Rakes In N61m In First Week – 

A Trip To Jamaica has set a new record, becoming the first Nollywood movie to rake in 80 million naira so far, surpassing every other movie to hit the cinema in 2016.

The movie which is currently running in cinemas nationwide is also the fastest film to hit the Naira Century mark in the history of Nigerian cinemas in 7 days, making N61million in its first week.

The record breaking movie which was produced by Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, premiered on September 25, 2016 and it featured top Nollywood actors like Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eric Roberts, Paul Campbell and Chris Attoh.

“Going by these figures, A Trip To Jamaica, Ay’s sophomore film as a producer, is set to smash the box office records currently held by his own ’30 Days In Atlanta’ ,” Moses Babatope of FilmOne Distribution said.

30 Days In Atlanta, was produced in 2014 and made over N160 million during its stay in Nigerian cinemas making it one of the 3 world highest domestic gross movies in The Guinness World Records.
