Ayade Suspends Carbon Emission Tax In Cross River

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has directed the suspension of carbon emission levy collection in the state

Senior Special Assistant and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Ita, said in a statement on Thursday that the suspension is in “keeping with the present administration’s resolve not to place too much burden on residents and indigenes of the state on payment of taxes.”

According to him, suspension of the carbon emission levy was with immediate effect, and called on “all consultants and agents associated with the collection of this revenue head are hereby directed to withdraw from the field and halt their activities with effect from Thursday, 16th November, 2017.”

Ita urged members of the public not to comply with any such demands henceforth, warning that those who fail to comply with the directive will be arrested and prosecuted.
