Benzema Arrested Over Sex Tape Scandal
Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema has been arrested over a sex tape blackmail plot against fellow France international Mathieu Valbuena.
The France international arrived at a Versailles police station near Paris early on Wednesday.
Police are trying to find out what role the Real Madrid forward played in the extortion attempt targeting France midfielder Valbuena, and if he actually tried to blackmail the Lyon player.

A source told the Daily mail that the existence of the tape, which is said to show Valbuena and a girl involved in sex acts, had not been confirmed, and that it is thought the gang was asking for between £40,000 – £75,000.
Three other people have been handed preliminary charges since October in the case.
However, Benzema’s lawyer, Sylvain Cormier, denied the allegation, saying the French striker is innocent and wants to vindicate himself as soon as possible.

“He wants to put an end as soon as possible to this controversy that rose from a case he did not take part in,” Cormier said.
It is not the first time Benzema has been confronted with problems off the field. In 2009, he and his teammate Franck Ribery were cleared of accusations that they had slept with an under-age prostitute.
Benzema is currently out of action because of a hamstring injury and missed Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over French rivals Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.
