Blow For Chelsea As Striker Morata Suffers 2 Months Hamstring Injury

English Premier League Champions, Chelsea, suffered a massive blow after the Spanish Football Federation confirmed the Blues striker Alvaro Morata, is set for a period on the sidelines with a grade two hamstring tear which is expected to keep him out for at least the whole of October and could be longer.

The Spanish striker limped off the pitch in the 35th minute as Chelsea were beaten 1-0 at Stamford Bridge by their title rivals courtesy of a Kevin De Bruyne goal.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte had hoped the 24-year-old would be straight back after the international break and it now leaves Chelsea desperately short of attacking options with Michy Batshuayi their only back up and Morata’s injury is a huge blow to club’s title hopes.

But Spanish team doctors diagnosed the grade two myofascial injury and he will miss this week’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Israel.

Spain are top of group G, three points clear of Italy, with two games remaining.

Morata, who joined Chelsea for a club record £60m from Real Madrid, is the club’s top scorer with seven goals and he could miss two Champions League games against Roma and Premier League clashes against Crystal Palace, Watford, Everton and Bournemouth
