Boko Haram ‘Remnants’ Defy Army Warning, Burn ‘60 Houses’ In Fresh Attack

Barely 24 hours after the Nigerian Army warned “remnants of Boko Haram terrorists” to surrender, the insurgents have launched a fresh attack on Ghumbili community of Adamawa State.

Recall that the Army, in a statement on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, advised the insurgents to lay down their arms or face humiliating deaths.

“This is to call on the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they are hiding, (to surrender) and give up forthwith.

“As you are aware, your leaders have abandoned you and could no longer be of any help to you,” the Army had said.

But confirming the Thursday attack, Chairman of Madagali Local Government Council where the attack took place, Mr Yusuf Muhammed, said no fewer than 60 houses were burnt down as the terrorists assailed the community from 11 p.m. on Wednesday to 3 a.m. on Thursday.

“They looted foodstuff, killed livestock and burnt the village completely,” said Mohammed.
