BREAKING: Aregbesola’s Chief Of Staff Oyetola Emerges APC Candidate For Osun

Gboyega Oyetola, Chief of Staff to Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, has emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun state Governorship election.

Oyetola was among the 17 governorship aspirants that contested the primary held on Friday in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

He will carry the party’s flag in the the September 22 Osun governorship election.

THE WHISTLER had earlier reported that the ruling party settled for direct primaries based on the recommendation of the Osun State Working Committee of the party.

National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, announced this after a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, on Monday.

Oshiomhole said the direct primary was the most democratic way to ensure that a truly popular candidate emerges.

“Under this arrangement, all card carrying members of the party in the state will be involved in the process of selecting the party’s candidate,” he said.

Speaking earlier today, Oyetola hailed the decision of the NWC of the party to use direct primary choose their governorship flag-bearer, describing it as the best and popular democratic opportunity.
