President Muhammadu Buhari has formally launched the much anticipated Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) (2017-2020).

The ceremony took place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday morning, shortly before the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

President Buhari says the idea builds on the strategic implementation plan and sets out ambitious roadmap to achieve a 7% growth rate by 2020.

The ERGP which had earlier been approved by the FEC, is a medium-term plan to restore Nigeria’s economy to growth, and also build it to become globally competitive.

Amongst its broad strategic objectives are, restoring sustainable, accelerated inclusive growth and development; investing in the people; and building a globally competitive economy.

Recall that President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday announced that the President will launch the ERGP today, Wednesday, April 5, 2017.
